Welcome To Waitomo TOP 10 Holiday Park

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Waitomo Top 10 Holiday Park.

We are committed to helping you create the holiday of a lifetime and leaving Waitomo with the fondest of memories so please ask us anything. Conveniently located in the heart of Waitomo village and just 600m from the famous Glowworm Cave, our award-winning Waitomo Top 10 Holiday Park is the ideal base to enjoy the caves and local treks.

Our friendly team is on hand for activity reservations and dining recommendations. We have put together the following information to ensure an enjoyable stay with us!

Our Holiday Park & Its Facilities

Check Out

Check-out time is 10 am.
Late check-outs may be arranged in advance depending on availability and time required. A surcharge may apply.

DVD's

DVD's are available to hire from reception for rooms containing dvd players and for guests whose motorhomes have DVD players.

Energy Saving

Please turn off all lights and heaters that are not needed i.e. when you are not in the unit. This helps us conserve energy

Laundry

Our laundry is located in the top main facility block on the end closest to the playground.

Our laundry machines are coin operated. NZ $2 coins, $4 a wash $4 a dry. Guests can get cash out at reception or change NZ money they already have. Liquid laundry detergent is already connected to the machines, there are instructions on the machines for how to use.

We encourage the use of our clothesline; located below the top facility block, close to the pool area. Extra pegs can be borrowed from reception.

Evacuation Assembly Point

Evacuation assembly point is at the entrance of the park by the top 10 sign. Please see evacuation notices in cabins.

TV

TV's in rooms should be tuned to receive Free view, which includes TV1, TV2, TV3, Prime, Maori TV and several other options.

Servicing of Rooms

Units 9-18 are serviced daily. The slider located under the room number must be changed from do not disturb to service required before 11am. If you need anything after this time please talk to our reception team.

Servicing includes clean tea towels and dishcloths, emptying rubbish bins and, where applicable, towels, hand towels and bathmats. Towels placed on the shower floor will be replaced. The units are serviced but not cleaned.

Longer stays servicing
Units 9-18 if you are staying longer than 4 nights, please organise with reception team if you would like a full service with linen change.

Day Rate

All accommodation must be vacated by 10am, but a day rate ($10 per person) is available if you wish to remain on the park and use the facilities. Day rates check out is 4pm.

Fridges and Freezers

Fridges and Freezers are available in communal kitchen. Please write your name site/room and departure date on all items and remove your items before checking out.

Park staff may remove items not named/dated.

First Aid

First Aid supplies are available at Reception, and we can access an AED (automated external defibrillator) if needed.

Electrical Warrants

Electrical Warrants are required and must be current for all vehicles connecting to Waitomo TOP 10 Holiday Park's power.

Life in a rural environment

Cockroaches and other creepy crawlies love our native bush and can quickly take up residence in your accommodation. Despite regular treatments they may still appear. Please ask at reception should you require bug spray.

Towel Hire

Towels Hire is available from reception for $2 per towel.

Supermarkets

There is no supermarket within the village. The General Store across the road from the park has basics – milk, bread etc.

You will have to drive to either Otorohanga Woolworths (13 minutes/15km) or Te Kuiti New World (17 minutes/19km) for a larger supermarket.

Playground and Trampoline

Children are to be always supervised by an adult. The trampoline has a maximum 180kgs (2 people) at a time on it.

We accept no liability for anyone making use of the playground or equipment. Please inform our team at reception immediately if you find any part of our playground or equipment damaged or faulty.

Speed Limit

Speed limit in the park is 10 km/h (walking pace) at all times. Be aware of cyclists and children, especially when exiting your bay to the main park road.

Reception

Our reception hours are: (7 days a week)
March to November 9am – 7pm
December to February 9am – 8pm

Pool and Hot Tub

Our Pool and Hot Tube are open year round:

April – November 9am – 8pm

December – March 9am – 9pm

All children under the age of 16 must be supervised/accompanied by an adult. There are no lifeguards on duty at any time. The pool area is 100% glass free with no food or drink to be consumed. No pets allowed. Please be respectful of other guests using the pool area.

Parking

Parking for one vehicle is available for each unit or within your site boundaries. Please do not park on other sites or in other areas of the park. Additional vehicles can be parked at the reception car park.

Happy Hooves Farm

Happy Hooves Farm is not owned or operated by Waitomo TOP 10 Holiday Park. You can find the owner contact information on the signage within the farm.

Accessible/Family Bathroom

Accessible/Family Bathroom is available in the top amenity block. A key is available from reception within opening hours.

Go Carts/Pedal Carts

Go Carts/Pedal carts are available for hire from reception from 9.30am - 7pm December to February and 9.30am - 6pm March to November.

$5 per cart per half hour. Terms of hire contract must be signed by a parent or guardian before hiring. If you’re a Top 10 member, your first cart is free!

Kitchen Facilities

Kitchen Facilities are available in the top Facility block and are accessible 24 hours a day.

Cooking equipment can be hired from reception within opening hours. A $10 bond is taken then returned when items are returned clean.

Please be respectful of other guests and tidy up after yourselves.

Quiet Time

We are proud of the peaceful relaxing atmosphere we have created in the park and ask that noise should not exceed a reasonable level so as to not disturb other guests.
We ask that all our guests are respectful and quiet from 10pm until 7am. (Some discretion on New Years Eve).

If you are experiencing/witnessing behaviour that does not abide by the above, please contact our onsite staff by using the after-hours buzzer located outside reception.

Alcohol

You are welcome to consume Alcohol onsite, however we ask that this is restricted to your own room or site. If you are dining in the communal block you are welcome to consume it here also. We do request that any alcohol consumed should be done in moderation.

WIFI

Being situated in a rural environment can affect our Wi-Fi connection and stability.

If you are having any issues with the Wi-Fi, our receptionists may be able to help, or you can call the help desk on 0800 479 434. Internet is available via the network “Waitomo Top 10”.

Once connected, you’ll need to login via the HQ Wi-Fi Portal. You’ll get a password for 1G of complimentary data per device when you check in, and if you need more, data packs can be purchased through the portal.

Pets

Pets are welcome on our sites from 7 February to 20 December at a rate of $10 per pet per night by prior arrangement. They must always be kept on a leash, must be tidied up after and are not allowed in or around any of the park buildings and facilities including cabins, amenity blocks, tv lounge, and pool and spa area.

The Rugby field next door is an off-leash area, but pets are not permitted to enter any of the bushwalks/DOC trails in the area.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome but must register at reception before entering the park. Their vehicles must be parked in the guest parking at reception. All facilities are for registered paying guests only. If a visitor wants to use the facilities, they will need to pay a day rate ($10 per person).

EV Charging Policy

Charging Fee
A fee of $20 per charging session will be applied to guests who charge their EVs from their rooms.


Visibility and Safety
Guests must ensure that the charging corda is clearly visible when running from the window to the vehicle. High-visibility items (e.g. reflective tape, cones, flag) must be used to mark the cord and prevent tripping hazards. Charging cords should not obstruct walkways or create unsafe conditions for other guests.


Guest Responsibility
Guests are fully responsible for any damage to property or injury resulting from the use of their EV charging equipment. The property is not liable for any damage to the guest’s vehicle or charging equipment.


Compliance with Regulations
Guests must comply with all local regulations and guidelines regarding EV charging. Only certified and properly maintained charging equipment should be used.

Notification
Guests must inform the reception before starting to charge their EVs. If in the event that guest does not have a high-visibility item, staff may be able to provide an item for an additional cost of $5.00 which must be returned when finished.

Prohibited Actions
Charging from unauthorised outlets or tampering with property electrical setup is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this policy may result in additional charges or eviction from the property.

Safe Charging Practices
Although charging station safety features reduce the risk of a mishap during the charging operation, they are heavy-duty electrical appliances and safe practices should always be followed:

Read and follow the instructions provided with your vehicle and by the accommodation property.

  • Ensure your hands are dry and do not touch the metal terminals on the connection points.
  • Do not use the charging station when the socket outlet is wet or during a thunderstorm.
  • Do not attempt to use the charging station to charge anything other than an electric vehicle.
  • Do not use a charging station that is damaged or modified, and do not attempt to charge a damaged battery.
  • Inspect the cables and plugs before using them.
  • Do not use cables that are worn, frayed, split or have exposed wires.
  • Do not use plugs that are cracked, crushed or have some other damage.
  • Take good care of your charging cable. Park close enough to the charging station so that you do not over-extend the cable.
  • If you have any doubts about whether it is safe to use the charging station, contact the Property Staff.

By following this policy, we aim to provide a safe and convenient EV charging experience for all our guests while maintaining the safety and integrity of our holiday park.

Damages and Breakages

Please report any damages/breakages to reception so that we can repair/replace what is broken. Damages and breakages that are not reported and/or are a result of vandalism will be charged for.

Smoking and Vaping

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in all rooms, park buildings and public spaces including the playground and pool area, decks of amenity buildings.

Please ensure all doors and windows are closed if smoking or vaping outside your room.

Sky TV

Sky TV is available in our tv lounge which is open 24hrs. Please be respectful of other guests, leave the room tidy when leaving. Please keep doors closed after dark.

Staff Tours Recommendations


Spellbound
Spellbound is a 20 minute drive from our holiday park. It is a small family-owned business. They are cavers and locals that have over 35 years of experience developing and operating cave tours in Waitomo. Along the way creating and innovated Waitomo’s best loved caving experiences. They have earned a reputation for absolute quality, best value and the rare ability to immerse our visitors right into the world that we love so much.

Spellbound has two tour options:

  • The Essential Glowworm Tour - A 2km scenic drive across a farm. A short spectacular walk to the Mangawhitikau Glowworm Cave. Up to an hour in the glowworm cave including a 20min glowworm boat ride and photography

  • Glowworm and Cave Explorer - A 2km scenic drive across a farm. A short spectacular walk to the Mangawhitikau Glowworm Cave. Up to an hour in our glowworm cave including a 20min glowworm boat ride and some photography. A quick break for refreshments, then another scenic walk to the Cave of the Spirit. The Cave of the Spirit which has cave decorations and fossils, a van ride back to our office.


Waitomo Zipline
Located a minute drive or a 15-minute walk from our holiday park Allow 2 hours for this tour. 10 ziplines the longest is 280 meters. You will be navigating around trees and on small platforms. You will start off Ziplining at a low level to get you confident using the gear before heading higher and longer. Bookings are required for this activity.



Ruakuri Cave

Located a 10-minute drive from our holiday park. It has full wheelchair and pushchair access. Please note - wheelchair/stroller width must not exceed 65cm. Begin the tour by journeying down through the spectacular, man-made spiral entrance. Photography is permitted in Ruakuri Cave.

More Than Just Caves


Ruakuri Bush Walk

10 minute drive from our holiday park. 45-minute loop. Highlights include beautiful green vegetation, natural tunnels, and glowing worms at night. Motorhome friendly car park, picnic tables and toilet facilities are also on hand. Torches are available to hire or purchase from reception.


Mangapohue Natural Bridge

Located 30-minute drive from our holiday park. Consists of two rock arches formed by the Mangapohue Stream in the Marokopa River valley near Waitomo, New Zealand. The limestone arches are a remnant of an ancient cave system. Motorhome friendly car park. You can see glowworms through this walk at night. Torches are available to hire or purchase from reception.


Waitomo Zipline

Located a minute drive or a 15-minute walk our holiday park. Allow 2 hours for this tour. 10 Ziplines with the the longest being 280 meters. Bookings are required for this activity.



Happy Hooves Farm

Located on the farm behind the holiday park. It has alpacas, pigs, chickens, cows and some very friendly sheep and goats that you are able to feed and pet.

Located next-door to our holiday park and reservations are suggested. Open Wednesday – Sunday. Hours vary so please check their website for opening hours on public holidays.

The Tomo Bar and Eatery
Located a 2-minute walk from our holiday park. Turn right out of the holiday park and take the first left.
Open 7 days 5pm-10pm, the kitchen closes at 9pm. Hours vary over summer, please check their website for opening hours on public holidays.

The General Store
Located directly across the road.
Open 7 days 8.30am - 6pm. Hours vary over summer, please check their website for opening hours on public holidays.
